SIMANGGANG: The Taman Harmoni Community Hall has been proposed to serve as the second Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) here.

Sri Aman Division Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) advisor Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said there is a need to have this PKRC as a precautionary measure in case there is sudden influx in the number of low-risk Covid-19 positive cases.

“This hall, if approved and in operation, can accommodate up to 50 bunk beds and 100 patients at a time,” he said after visiting the hall on Saturday (May 29).

Francis, who is also Simanggang assemblyman, said currently, low-risk patients are placed at PKRC Betong and PKRC Serian.

“The purpose of today’s visit was also to review the equipment required for the proposed PKRC.

“There is also a need for Sarawak Energy Berhad to supply electricity as well as the installation of water supply meters by the Sarawak Rural Water Supply Department,” he said.
