SRI AMAN: The desire of Taman Sri Jaya residents to have a place for handicraft activities came true with the completion of renovation and expansion of the multipurpose hall here.

Assistant Community Wellbeing Minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, who is also the patron, officiated the reopening of the JKKK (Dayak) Handicraft Centre recently.

The cost of the renovation was RM100,000 and Harden reminded residents to make good use of the facility.

“The state government is always looking for ways to raise the socioeconomic status of the population and this is not focused on longhouse dwellers in the interior but also residents of housing estates,” he said.

At the event, MRP grant of RM5,000 was allocated to Taman Sri Jaya JKKK (Dayak) while the Bureau of Women also received RM5,000.

JKKK and Taman Desa Indah Women Bureau each received RM5,000 and RM3,000 respectively.
