BINTULU: Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming has urged for a re-evaluation of the timing for traffic lights in front of the Bintulu Courthouse due to persistent complaints about congestion, especially during peak hours.

He has communicated the proposal to the Bintulu Development Board (BDA) in its capacity as the local authority (PBT) and to the contractors responsible for the construction of the Bintulu-Jepak Bridge.

“I have informed BDA officials about the necessity to re-adjust the traffic lights timing.

“It is well-known that there is significant traffic from Tanjung Batu and the Bintulu Health Clinic after work or school hours,” he told the media during a review of the traffic situation in front of the Bintulu Court on Monday (March 11).

The proposed adjustment includes extending the duration of traffic lights from the directions of Medan Jaya and Tanjung Batu toward Bintulu city centre to 100 seconds, with a corresponding 10 seconds for the opposite direction, from Bintulu city centre to Medan Jaya.
