BINTULU: Concerned with the plight of Kampung Sebiew residents affected by a fire, Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang channelled aid to ease their burden. On July 2, a fire broke out, destroying 11 houses and left 20 families homeless. Pang hoped that the Bintulu Disaster Management Committee would find ways to help the victims as well. “I also call upon corporate companies to lend a helping hand as part of their corporate social responsibility. "Although Kampung Sebiew is not under the Tanjong Batu constituency, but I am concerned as well.” Twelve families are temporarily housed at a budget hotel in Tanjung Batu while the other eight are temporarily putting up with relatives. Since the incident, assistance has been given by residents, including Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, and Jepak Service Centre, and non-governmental organisations.
