BINTULU: Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming is urging relevant authorities to immediately open the traffic light intersection at Jalan Sultan Iskandar leading to Jalan Kemena to allow ongoing development projects in the area to proceed.

According to him, the intersection was previously closed due to safety concerns for road users.

He added that the closure of one lane of the road has resulted in traffic congestion, especially with the ongoing construction works having no impact on the traffic flow.

Therefore, he hoped that the intersection could be opened immediately for the convenience of road users.

It is understood that the closure will continue until the entire construction project is completed.

“The relevant agencies should always be on the ground to act or make decisions flexibly according to the suitability and current conditions for the convenience of road users,” he told reporters after visiting the site with the staff of the Tanjong Batu Service Centre and Tanjong Batu Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) members yesterday (April 14).

On the same note, he also hoped that the relevant agencies would consider the traffic flow and safety of road users, as there are many residential areas along Jalan Kemena and Jalan Sibiyu that use the traffic light intersection daily.

“I hope the road closure can be lifted to ease traffic congestion, especially during the evening rush hour when users return from work,” he said.
