TANJUNG MANIS: The Tanjung Manis Fishing Safari 2023 not only attracts anglers but also promotes the beauty, uniqueness and serenity of Kuala Rajang.
Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) general manager Zainal Abidin Abdullah said the programme, organised by STIDC, is no stranger to the local community because it was first held in 2003.
“The organisation of this kind of activity can make this area a tourist destination and listed among interesting places that must be visited,” he said during the closing ceremony on today (Aug 13).
“At the same time, STIDC sees the organisation of this kind of leisure programme as a social responsibility towards the local community, especially for the local youth,” he said.
Zainal said the fishing competition can also bring many benefits to all involved because it can nurture good values such as the spirit of cooperation, teamwork and tolerance.
“Side events such as cooking competitions were also held to enliven this year’s fishing safari.
“It is hoped that this event has provided space to strengthen friendships among STIDC, local communities, government agencies and industry.
“It is also hoped that this competition will continue and get the support of anglers,” he added.
