Tatau fire leaves four homeless

The aftermath of Tuesday night’s blaze that destroyed a one-storey house at KM16, Jalan Tatau-Sangan.

TATAU: A family of four was made homeless after a one-storey house was razed to the ground along KM16, Jalan Tatau-Sangan here on Tuesday night (June 6).

Fortunately, the residents aged between five and 37, managed to escape to safety and no injuries were reported among them.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department said firemen from Tatau station were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call at around 8.30 pm.

On arrival, they found that the house was beyond saving and the extinguishing deed was performed.

The flames were brought under control at around 9.20 pm and overhaul works followed suit to ensure that there were no embers left.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team concluded their operation at 9.35 pm.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
