TATAU: The Folk Dance and Recreation Club here has been urged to teach the younger generation about traditional dances.

“Train our children and our grandchildren on traditional dances.

“This is necessary so that our heritage and culture can be preserved and would not go extinct,” said Kakus assemblyman Datuk John Sikie Tayai.

He said this when officiating at the 20th anniversary dinner of the Tatau Folk Dance and Recreation Club, which was held at Mui Heng Cafe last Saturday (Oct 17).

The same event also witnessed Sikie presenting RM8,000 in minor rural project (MRP) grants to the club for their future activities.

Also present were Sikie’s wife Datin Melia Gelen, Pemanca Gerosen Jubin, Penghulu Lim Tcia Hong and the club’s chairwoman Yap Ai Siok.
