KUCHING: A primary school teacher was ordered to undergo a peace bond under Section 67 of the Criminal Code by the Magistrate’s Court here, today.

The said bond was issued due to his inappropriate behaviour that caused discomfort to a 12-years-old female student at a primary school in Taman BDC, Stampin, at around 4.40pm, on August 10.

As such, Magistrate Zaiton Anuar ordered the 52-year-old accused to the peace bond for six months with a cash deposit of RM1,000 after pleading guilty to the act involved.

According to the facts of the case, the accused who was still on duty as a teacher at the school in question had ordered the victim to come to his office alone and told the victim to close the door to avoid being seen by the other students and teachers.

During the incident, the accused gave a box of gifts containing plastic flowers and a teddy bear to the victim while looking seductively at the victim.

The victim also stated that the incident caused her to feel fear, worry and discomfort because she was all alone with the accused.

In addition to that, the accused asked the victim to call him ‘daddy’ instead of ‘teacher’.

After the incident, the victim admitted that she is suffering from emotional disturbances.

The actions of the teacher involved became known to the complainant (the victim’s mother) after receiving a call from the victim’s classmate’s mother that her daughter had told four of her friends about the incident.

The complainant asked the victim for confirmation of the incident and then made a police report for further action and investigation leading to the arrest of the accused on August 24.

The prosecution of the case was handled by Prosecuting Officer Inspector Mohd Adzmei Ahmad while the accused was not represented by a lawyer.
