SARIKEI: English teachers from Sarikei, Meradong, and Julau districts came together in a workshop recently to learn about better approach to grade English writing.

In a statement, the workshop was held at SMK Tinggi aimed to assist teachers improve their skills and strategies for teaching the English language.

Lee Chen Ping from SMK Tinggi served as the guest speaker during the workshop titled ‘Scoring of the English Language Writing Assessment for the Malaysian Certificate of Education.’

The event had several positive outcomes, including improved teaching abilities, better grading methods, and new ways to make learning engaging for students.

Sarawak Teachers’ Union (STU) Sarikei Division chairperson Ngu Fung Sieng thanked the Sarikei, Meradong and Julau Education Offices for co-organising the event.

Also present were Sarikei Education Office School Improvement Specialist Coach (SISC) Hamsiah Kunggi, Meradong Education Office SISC Jennifer Sii Hee Kuang, STU Sarikei Division secretary Ting Ying Ying and assistant secretary Dorothy Narawi.
