KOTA SAMARAHAN: The success in developing Sarawak is not due to a single person or the government alone.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said that the people and the government have to come together in the state’s interests.
“That is why we need to have a good spirit of teamwork. Sarawak is similar to being a boat, we must all be paddling in sync.
“The rhythm must be right for the boat to move quickly. We want to set the right tone; only then can Sarawak prosper in the Malaysia federation.
“Hence, we want to instill a love for Sarawak and we want to do it with honesty,” he said at the Sarawakku Sayang 2020 programme in Kota Samarahan yesterday.
Abang Johari said that the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) is set to be implemented from 2020 – 2025 with the main focus on strengthening economic policy.
“We will be providing all households will clean water and electricity through the Sarawak Rural Electrification Scheme (Sares) and Sarawak Alternative Water Supply (Sawas) initiatives.
“We will also survey Native Customary Rights (NCR) land. We will not be taking your lands away. But when you get the land title, don’t sell it, develop it instead,” he urged.
The chief minister added that Sarawak was also modernising its agriculture, which will be a boon to rural economy.
“We have suitors in our terung asam product and also our tilapia fish from Singapore as a result of the establishment of our trade office there,” he said.
