KUCHING: Sarawak’s initiative in being the first in Malaysia to roll out its 5G test bed was commended by tech giants as an important milestone in its digital transformation.
Maxis chief executive officer Gokhan Ogut said the company was proud to be part of Sarawak’s celebration in launching its first 5G trial network.
“This is a testament of Sarawak’s progressive approach in accelerating the digital economy. On behalf of maxis, I congratulate Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg for this important milestone and building the state digital economy.
“We are excited for the potential of 5G for consumers and businesses in Sarawak and we are proud to be part of this journey, where we are able to display our leadership in 5G innovation and deployment of smart solutions,” he said.
Meanwhile, Huawei Malaysia chief executive officer Michael Yuan described the launch of the 5G test bed in Sarawak as a game changer in propelling the state’s digital initiative implementation.
“With this remarkable achievement and effort from all parties, and under the leadership of Datuk Patinggi (Abang Johari), this will be a game changer especially in enabling Sarawak’s local ecosystem an opportunity to access the latest technological platform in research and development.
“Thank you for the trust and confidence in our partnership and we will always be committed in fulfilling our promise in realising Sarawak’s digital economy vision,” he said.
Eon Reality founder and chairman Dan Lejerskar expressed his personal appreciation to Abang Johari for being the main driver in the success of the digital economy vision.
“This will not be possible without you, your passion and help has enabled us to reach our goal,” he said.
Lejerskar also hoped the state government would be able to get a hands-on experience at Eon’s world class facility which is equipped with the latest Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) equipment.
