Teen arrested for illegal World Cup betting

BAU: Police have nabbed a young lass for allegedly carrying out illegal ‘FIFA Qatar World Cup 2022’ betting activities in an operation codenamed Ops Soga yesterday (Dec 6).

Bau OCPD DSP Poge Nyaon said the 19-year-old female suspect was detained at approximately 4pm at a convenience store in Singai Tondong.

“We seized a phone, a receipt with “Qatar World Cup 2022″ numbers written on it, a mobile printer and a sum of cash as evidence,” he said.

Meanwhile, the suspect does not have any previous criminal records and the case is being investigated under Section 6 (3) of the Betting Act 1953 which provides for a maximum fine up to RM200,000 and a jail term up to five years.
