SIBU: A teenager was killed in an accident involving a motorcycle and a van at Jalan Durin here yesterday afternoon.
Sibu District Police chief, ACP Saiful Bahri Abdullah said the victim, identified as Christopher Mathew, 15, was believed to be heading to Durin Bazaar from the Durin roundabout when the incident occurred at around 4.30pm.
“Early investigation revealed the motorcycle that the victim was riding was believed to have entered the opposite lane before colliding with the van.
“As a result of the accident, the victim who sustained serious injuries died at the scene,” he said when contacted here yesterday.
Saiful said no arrest was made for the time being and the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act, 1987.
