KUCHING: An 18-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a collision with a lorry along Jalan Kuching-Samarahan Expressway yesterday (Sept 4).

Kuching acting police chief Supt Merbin Lisa said the fatal accident happened around 6 am when the victim, traveling from Kuching to Kota Samarahan, is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle and veered into the road divider.

“Tragically, the rider fell onto the road where he was struck by a lorry, that was travelling in the same direction.

“He was rushed to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), however, the victim succumbed to severe injuries,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death due to reckless or dangerous driving.

Merbin advised the public to always exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations.

They are also reminded to refrain from reckless driving as such behaviour poses a grave risk to both themselves and other road users.
