KUCHING: A teenager was arrested in Bau on Sunday night after hurting his family members during a squabble over a car at Kampung Stenggang, Bau at 8am. The teenager himself suffered burns to his legs after he set the family car on fire. He wanted to drive his father’s car but was stopped by his elder brother and his brother-in-law.
After threatening to bomb the car he left the house but soon returned with a flammable liquid inside a gas canister. He doused the car, house walls and front gate with the flammable liquid which he later ignited. Both his brother and brother-in-law tried to stop him but were injured in the process.
The elder brother suffered burns to his head, abdomen, arms and legs while the brotherin-law suffered burns to his left leg. Neighbours helped to put out the fire and the police and firemen were summoned to the scene. The suspect has been detained for further questioning.
