KUCHING: A 15-year-old teenager was killed in a motorcycle crash at the Abang Kipali roundabout and underpass here on Friday.
The victim was identified as Branden Wayne Basil from Bandar Baru Samariang.
Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the police received information on the incident at around 2.45am and despatched a team to the scene.
Early investigations revealed that the victim was travelling from the city centre to Petra Jaya when his motorcycle went out of control and crashed into the tunnel wall.
“As a result, the victim sustained head injuries and was pronounced dead by Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) paramedics at the scene,” he said in a statement.
Alexson said the victim’s body was taken to SGH for further actions. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
