Teenager jailed two years, fined for drugs

KUCHING: The Magistrate Court here sentenced an 18 year old teenager two years’ jail term and a fine up to RM5,000 for drug possession and abuse which happened in March this year.

Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali ordered that the accused be sent to Henry Gurney School for supervision until the age of 21 after the accused pleaded guilty to the charge.

According to the charge sheet, the accused was intoxicated with Amphetamine and Methamphetamine.

He committed the offence at the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division Office at around 3pm on March 15 this year.

The accused is charged in accordance with Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and read together with Section 15 of the same act which carries a fine up to RM5,000 or jail term of up to two years if convicted.

Reports from the Pathology Department in Sarawak General Hospital proved that the accused was tested positive on Methamphetamine and Amphetamine.

Prosecuting Officer Inspector Mohd Adzmei Ahmad requested the court to sentence the accused as a lesson for her.
