KOTA SAMARAHAN: A teenage motorcyclist was killed in a road accident at Mile 10, Jalan Kota Samarahan-Sadong Jaya today (Aug 28).
Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the tragedy occurred at 9.35am while rider was travelling from Asajaya. The lorry was also going in the same direction.
The accident happened when the victim identified as Muhammad Ideham Liza, 17, tried to overtake the lorry from the right.
“At the crucial moment, the lorry driver signalled that he was turning right to enter a junction of a company premises, Mindasar Sdn Bhd. In doing so he crashed into the biker.
“The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by paramedics from Asajaya Health Clinic,” Alexson said in a statement.
He added that the body was taken to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further processing by the authorities.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
