Teenager with drugs nabbed

BAU: A teenager was arrested on suspicion of drug possession following a drug operation dubbed ‘Ops Damn Tokan 3’ conducted yesterday. Its district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the 18-year-old unemployed youth was arrested following a raid at a house in Kampung Sibuluh at 7.35pm.

“After checking the house, the raiding team found a translucent packaging containing crystalline substance believed to be syabu weighing 49g with an estimated street value of RM2,450,” he added.

The suspect, who has a criminal record, also tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

A remand order will be made today against the suspect to facilitate investigation under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.

Poge pointed out that if convicted under Section 39A(2), the suspect would face a jail term of up to five years and not less than 10 strokes.

Meanwhile, under Section 15(1)(a) of Section 38B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, he could be fined up to RM5,000 or jailed up to two years.
