Teens collared for robbing convenience shop

KUCHING: Two teenagers aged 17 and 18 were apprehended by members of the public for robbing a 24-hour convenience shop at MJC here Thursday night.

The 17-year-old who has previous robbery cases, sustained slash wounds on his left leg during a scuffle with the public members.

According to a cashier at the store, a masked man armed with a machete entered the shop at 11.30pm while an accomplice waited outside. He immediately asked the cashier where the money was.

The cashier said he was scared and fled into the toilet and locked the door. He later heard noises and came out to see the two have been nabbed by members of the public who meted out street justice on the suspects.

A police MPV unit arrived and duly arrested the duo for questioning. The injured youth was later sent to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for treatment.

Police seized a motorcycle, jacket and helmet at the scene.
