KUCHING: Any complaint on the lack of a school’s management in handling Covid-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) should be forwarded directly to the school concerned.

Sarawak Bumiputera Teachers Union (KGBS) president, Ahmad Malie, said this in response to a member of a public whose complaint was in a newspaper claiming that several primary schools especially SK Agama Lawas implemented the SOP half-heartedly.

“Based on the information we received from the schools, they have worked hard to implement the SOP.

“We do not want it to be mere polemic. What’s important is that anyone who found something lacking on the implementation of the SOP should directly raise the matter with the school’s administration so that they can improve the procedures.

“Don’t just report it to the media as doing so can create panic among the public especially parents whose study at the school concerned,” he said in a statement last Friday.

He stressed that it was not a culture of Sarawakians to find other people’s mistakes especially amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We should instead be united and work together in handling the pandemic effectively,” he said.

He also emphasised that the school’s fraternity had done their best to ensure compliance with the SOP and that parents must not be influenced by the negativity caused by a negative report.
