MUKAH: The Sarawak government this year has allocated RM1 million to develop agriculture in the Tellian state constituency.

Mukah District Agriculture assistant officer, Benedict Thomas said the allocation was used to finance various agricultural programmes in Tellian.

According to him, the programmes, among others, included fertigation farming, aquaculture fisheries and food production.

“All are aimed at helping those involved in agriculture to increase their productivity and incomes,” he said in his welcoming speech at the Agriculture Community Outreach Programme (AgriCOP) at Kampung Petanak community hall here yesterday.

Tellian assemblyman, Yussibnosh Balo officiated at the event, which was attended by more than 100 participants.

The one-day programme was organised by Mukah Agriculture Department in collaboration with Mukah Area Farmers Organisation (PPK).

It featured talks on digital marketing and farming management (fertigation system) as well as lessons on how to make fertigation structures.
