MUKAH: Three local WhatsApp groups have taken the initiative to raise funds for victims of a recent fire incident at Kampung Tellian Daya (Tellian Ulu) and successfully collected over RM25,000.
The contribution was handed over by the groups’ representatives, Sebastian Umat and another individual who preferred anonymity, to Dennis, who represented his father Busang Belalan, 73, at Kampung Tellian Ulu here on Tuesday (June 15).
Apart from the WhatsApp groups, other individuals and organisations, particularly non-governmental organisations, also presented cash and in-kind contributions to the fire victims. It is hoped that the aid would help lighten the burden of the victims.
Busang and his son’s family, comprising nine individuals, lost their home in a fire about 3pm on June 10.
All of them managed to escape safely, and they are currently staying at their neighbour’s house.
