SARIKEI: A sum of RM300,000 has been allocated by the Sarawak government through the Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) to Zhong De Social and Recreational Association Sarikei for the construction of its temple.
On top of this, Repok incumbent Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii also contributed RM50,000 to the association for their annual activities.
“The importance of development, education, and cultural development among various races is very much emphasised and it is always ensured that all projects are carried according to the schedule and specifications set by the implementing agency,” he said.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), he said this when attending the earth-breaking ceremony for Zhong De Social and Recreational Association Sarikei’s new temple here on Tuesday (Nov 30).
Huang also expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for his competent leadership, political and economic stability, and for improving the living standards of the people in Sarawak.
Meanwhile, members of Zhong De Social and Recreational Association Sarikei also expressed their appreciation for the contributions and assistance channelled by Huang all this while.
Even though the allocation given through Unifor was not the full amount, the state government still carries out its responsibility of assisting houses of worship in Sarawak based on needs.
