Ten beauties for Dayung Gawea Tematu final

KUCHING: Ten beauties have successfully booked their places in the final of Dayung Gawea Tematu 2019 to be held on June 22 this year.

The beauty competition is being held in conjunction with Tematu Gawai Carnival 2019 from June 21-22 at Kampung Tematu near here.

The carnival’s spokesman John Pata said the winner who will be crowned Miss Tematu will take home a cash prize of RM1,700 plus a crown, flower bouquet, sash, trophy, hamper and certificate. Winners for the first runner-up and second runner-up spots will receive RM1,400 and RM1,100 respectively apart from a crown, flower bouquet, sash, trophy, hamper and certificate each.

Seven consolation prizes of RM100 each plus hampers and certificates will also be given.

There will also a cash prize of RM200, plus trophy and sash each for subsidiary titles of Miss Talent, Miss Tourism, Miss Popularity, Miss Photogenic, Miss Best Costume and Miss Traditional.

The ten finalists are Nancy Elfira Son Stephen, 21, from Kampung Tematu;  Agnes Anastasha Amat, 24, from Kampung Jagoi Bogag, Bau; Kimberly Alta Thomas, 27, from Kampung Emperoh Jambu, Padawan; Sue Zane Melanie, 22, from Kampung Segubang, Bau; Jaydylia Anna Charles, 19,  from Kampung Tijirak, Siburan;  Melvienna Vianney Regud, 18,  from Kampung Bawang, Penrissen;  Jacline Sahfica Brucly, 18, from Kampung Tematu, Kuching; Irine Yap Hui Xin, 19, from Kampung Bumbok, Kuching; Michelle Perai, 18, from Kampung Benuk, Padawan and Eve Isabelle Son Ronald Bujeng, 19, from Kampung Benuk, Padawan.

John said prizes will also be awarded to two lucky visitors (male and female) wearing traditional costumes of the Bidayuh, Iban, or Orang Ulu on the evening of June 22.

“Various activities will be held throughout the carnival including kids’ beauty contest and the traditional Bidayuh dance and music competition,” John said.

He said the closing date to submit entries for the competition is on this June 9.
