Ten SOP violators compounded

KUCHING: Police have compounded ten errant individuals for failing to comply with the conditional movement control order (CMCO) standard operating procedures (SOPs) on Sunday (May 16).

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said Kuching recorded the most compounds with five, followed by Padawan (three) and Miri (two).

“The violations included not wearing face masks (five); failing to scan the MySejahtera (three); and operating past the allowed time (two).

“This brings the total amount of compounds issued since Mar 18 last year to 6,555,” the committee said.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Local Government and Housing has issued 17 compounds to business operators of premises under the supervision of various local councils.

Miri City Council recorded the highest compounds with seven. Three compounds were issued by the Kapit District Council, two each by the Marudi District Council and Serian District Council and one each by the Lubok Antu District Council, Bintulu Development Authority and Dalat and Mukah District Council.

SDMC added that the businesses were violating SOPs such as failing to update the customer logbooks (10); failing to enforce wearing face masks (six) and failing to scan the MySejahtera (one).

The total amount of compounds issued by local authorities since Feb 1 this year is 535.
