SIBU: Swift action by the tenants of a rented house at Lorong 9, Taman Permy Jaya here saved the residence from burning to the ground.
The Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said, however, a bedroom was destroyed by the fire which occurred at about 10.49am.
However, the blaze was successfully extinguished by the tenants of the house with the help of water.
“All the tenants managed to escape safely,” the centre said in a statement on Wednesday (Dec 20).
Firemen, who arrived at the scene, later worked hard to reduce the smoke in the house.
The cause of the fire and the losses incurred by the tenants are still under investigation.
