SIBU: The appointment of five members of parliament from Sarawak proves the 10th Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s trust and confidence in Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) role as the Borneo bloc in driving national development, says Safiee Ahmad.

The Daro assemblyman when contacted by New Sarawak Tribune today later express his gratitude to Anwar for the appointment of five members of parliament from Sarawak to the Cabinet.

Safiee deemed that the appointment of the deputy prime minister from GPS, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof is a historic achievement for the people of Sarawak.

“For the five main ministerial portfolio positions this is very significant with the development and welfare needs of the country in general and Sarawak in particular,” he said.

He hopes that there will be more MPs from Sarawak will be appointed to the Deputy Minister post as a complement to the composition of the unity government.

“I hope that this new Cabinet will exercise trust and responsibility better in facing the increasingly challenging economic situation of the country and the world.

“Cut back on politics and focus on working hard for the well-being of the people and the development of the country,” he said.
