Testimony to contributions of Sarawak Skills

SIBU: The recent prestigious awards bestowed on the Sarawak Skills are eloquent testimony to its role and contributions as a stakeholder in the transformation of Sarawak’s economic, educational and digital landscape.

The presentation of the awards was held in the third week of this month in Cyberjaya and Kuala Lumpur.

Sarawak Skills said that on October 18, executive director of Sarawak Skills, and chairman of the Federation of Malaysian Skills Development Centres (FMSDC), Hallman Sabri, received the Contribution to Human Resource (HR) Community Award 2022 (part of the Asia HRD Awards 2022) during the awards ceremony at the University of Cyberjaya today (Oct 24)

The award was presented by the chairman of the Asia HRD Awards Committee (and former Minister of Works, Minister-in-charge of Electricity and Water Authority, Kingdom of Bahrain), His Excellency Engineer Fahmi Ali Al Jowder.

“It is in recognition of Hallman’s efforts in developing human capital expertise through a national skills development framework, thereby facilitating the noble cause of Talent Development in Sarawak, and Malaysia as a whole,” they said.

The second award received by Sarawak Skill was the Best TVET Training Provider Award (Industrial Training Category) which was presented during the inaugural Malaysia Education and TVET Awards 2022 on 20 October 2022 in Kuala Lumpur.

“During the award ceremony at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur, Hallman received the award on behalf of Sarawak Skills from director of the Technical and Vocational Education Training Division of the Ministry of Education, Zanariah Ahmad.

Regarding the awards, Hallman expressed his gratitude to all parties that helped Sarawak Skills to receive them.

“I wish to take this opportunity to thank the Chairman of Sarawak Skills and the Management Council Members, our stakeholders comprising the government, various industrial sectors, parents, alumni, students, and staff members for their tremendous support over the years.

“Indeed, they have contributed tremendously to the transformation of Sarawak Skills into an award-winning Hub of Industry-Driven Talent Development!

“These awards will spur us on to raise the bar even higher, especially in the development of an agile, future-ready workforce for Sarawak, and Malaysia as a whole,” he said.

Hallman also noted that Sarawak Skills with technology partners comprising industry experts and practitioners from Malaysia and abroad, industries in Sarawak will have ready access to, and benefit from the latest technologies.

“This exciting development will facilitate organizations’ strategic initiatives, especially in areas such as improving productivity, cost management, and fostering innovation.

“This will go a long way towards contributing to the ongoing transformation of Sarawak’s six key sectors (main engines of growth) in line with the Sarawak Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030),” he said.
