SIBU: The Borneo qualifying round of the Fitness International Federation (FIF) Asia Gold saw Aissamuddin Sapar and Carol Lau emerging as champion in the men and women categories respectively.

The contest on Sunday, jointly organised by FIF and Solid Gym, Sibu, was participated by 20 athletes from Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia.

Aissamuddin from Brunei took home the overall Fitness title.

En route to the final, he grabbed two other titles —Fitness Model and Physique Model in the Under 172cm.

The Miss Bikini Fittest Body saw keen competition among four women, including eventual winner Carol.

“I will train harder to compete at the highest level in future,” said a jubilant Carol when met after receiving her prizes.

She was awarded a certificate from FIF and a trophy.

Carol, 25, said she came third in a similar competition held in Singapore on Sept 18.

She graduated with a degree in exercise and sports science from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) two years ago.

“After graduation, I decided to be a personal trainer at a gym. Just last year, I started training seriously to compete in body fitness competitions,” said Carol. She is also an aerobic cycling instructor.
