Snowfall

By Maya Green

It was like a slow awakening
From a deep slumber’s slay
The waking up, was hard that morning
For it’s into a winter’s dreary day
More in comatose, in a state unripened
Like a recent dead, only just arisen

Lying in state, on a temporary lapse
A sure shut off, is the given stage
Being propped up, in blankets clasped
So was I reposed, beaten down in bed
And in such a state of awareness
Of the excited newly weds in anxiousness

Being now conscious, anxious to please
The truly awakened, are the lucky ones
For the true lovers are happy to please
In their biases, sweetness is on all fronts
I’d say, such is a good awakening
Sans the alarm to ring in the morning
