KUCHING: Professor Tan Sri Datuk Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid has called upon Management and Science University (MSU) College Sarawak to not just be “jaguh kampung” (home champion) but aim to achieve international success.

Mohd Shukri, who is MSU president, said that through MSU’s Amal Ramadan, students, lecturers and staff could cultivate a desire to achieve success that was not limited to local success but also international success.

“We don’t only want to be champion in Kuching, Sarawak or even in Malaysia.

“Raise your standards to be the best in ASEAN and the world, we may not be able to achieve those standards yet but have the spirit to strive for those achievements,” he said during his address before officiating at the MSU Amal Ramadan at MSU College Sarawak on Thursday.

Mohd Shukri said that the Amal Ramadan programme was important because it balanced education and other learning capabilities.

In relation to that, he pointed out that in MSU, social skills were very important where academic excellence was given high priority similar to technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
