MIRI: A man suspected of stealing items from Shin Yang Shipyard Company at Kuala Baram, here last Saturday (June 20) has been remanded for four days starting Monday (June 22).

Judge Leona Dominic Mojiliu of the Magistrate Court on Monday (June 22) approved the remand application against the suspect for a period of four days in order for further investigations to be carried out.

The unrepresented suspect pleaded for a shorter remand period on the grounds that he needed to go to work, but was disregarded.

According to a police report, on the day of the incident at 4.20pm, the 32-year-old suspect was found in a suspicious manner by a security guard at the shipyard.

The guard then conducted an inspection and found two copper bushes worth RM1,500, belonging to the shipyard company, inside a purple bag.

The suspect was arrested by the guard and handed over to the police for further actions.
