SIMANGGANG: Police are on the hunt for a man who allegedly made off with jewellery worth RM4,950 from a goldsmith shop along Jalan Kelab here on Monday (May 15).

Acting Sri Aman police chief DSP Zuriawati Zainal Abidin said the incident happened around 3 pm when a man went to the shop with intention to buy a gold chain.

“The owner then took out and showed the man a gold chain weighing 11.38g and a silver chain, which cost RM4,000 and RM950 respectively.

“All of a sudden, the suspect took the chains and fled the scene,” she said.

CCTV footage showed that the suspect is about 167cm tall and slim. He was also seen wearing a black short-sleeved T-shirt, pants and a face mask.

Zuriawati pointed out that the case is being investigated under Section 380 of the Penal Code for theft.

The police chief appealed to those with information to contact investigating officer Insp Wan Yunus Wan Morni at 083-322121.
