Thieves use MCO to burglarise shop

MIRI: Thieves have taken advantage of the movement control order (MCO) by making away with RM4,277 worth of items from a phone shop at Jalan Pujut 7 here.

According to a police report, the complainant, who is the owner, found out about the incident through a Facebook posting.

“Around 7.30am, I came across a posting which stated that my shop was broken into.

“The posting also mentioned that it was broken into through the premises’ front roller shutter,” the complainant said yesterday.

After finding out about the incident, the complainant rushed to the shop to find out what was stolen.

The items included one Vivo Y15 smartphone, a Huawei Media Pad, a Huawei Honor smartphone, a counterfeit money detector, five projectors and 89 SIM card replacements.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code.
