SELANGAU: Senator Datuk Dr Nuing Jeluing has called on voters in the Selangau parliamentary area to pick a new representative in the forthcoming 15th General Election .

UKAS quoted him as saying this was necessary following the failure of the opposition representative to bring in development for the people in the area.

“We need to choose candidates rationally and think of the long term. This is because for the last four years, we have felt the mistake we made in the last GE as the candidate was not able to help and bring development to this area,” he said.

He said this when attending the Minor Rural Project and Food Basket handing over ceremony at Rumah Lukok, Sungai Bawang, here on Saturday (July 23).

On this score, he urged voters here to support the candidate of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the upcoming GE.

During the ceremony, a total of RM129,000 MRP grants contributed by the federal government were handed over to 11 Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).
