MIRI: The local fire station on Monday night (March 8) helped residents of a government quarters in Lorong Jee Foh 10 get rid of a large bee nest that had become a public nuisance.

According to Zone 6 fire chief Supt Law Poh Kiong, three firemen were deployed to the place after receiving a distress call from an occupant of the quarters at 8.47pm concerning the hive that had been hanging on a tree for quite some time.

The nest hung at about 14 feet from the ground.

Clad in special protective outfits, the firemen started their operation at 8.56pm.

It took them about 30 minutes to remove the hive safely.
