MIRI: Police arrested three brothers from a wooden house in Tudan Desaras in an operation at 2am on Tuesday (Jan 26).

The brothers were alleged to have taken part in an attack on a woman and her child the day before.

The woman had lodged a police report on the incident.

In the alleged incident which reportedly occurred around 8.30pm on Monday, the 32-year-old woman aged 32 and her 14-year-old son were injured after they were attacked by the brothers and four others, including the woman’s husband.

Prior to the incident, the woman went to the house in Tudan Desaras to pick up her son for dinner. There, they were confronted by the group of seven who were armed with wooden rods.

During the attack, the woman was hit several times with the wooden rods, her car was damaged while her son was pushed into a drain.

All three brothers, aged 20, 24 and 35, were hauled up by police after they were found hiding inside the wooden house.

Before that, Miri CID personnel had knocked on the door multiple times but there was no response. This forced the law enforcement officers to barge into the house via the back and front doors.

The brothers tried to resist arrest but law enforcement officers eventually managed to subdue them.

At the scene, police also found and seized two wooden rods (117cm and 125cm) believed to have been used in the attack on the woman and her son.

Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari said police also discovered three stolen motorcycles at the house.

All the motorcycles — a Honda Ex 5, Demax Matrix and Modenas Kriss — had been reported missing by their owners.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means.
