Three Bruneians among five arrested for gambling

MIRI: Five men including three Bruneians were arrested by Miri police during a raid held at a five-foot-way in front of a premise in Sungai Tujuh, nearby Kuala Baram Immigration Checkpoint on Thursday night.

They were arrested for being involved in illegal gambling activity.

ACP Lim Meng Seah said the suspects together with two other men who are locals were also arrested during the 9.20pm raid.

“During the raid, the team also confiscated cash amounting to RM1,057 and gambling apparatus,” he said.

All five suspects aged between 41 and 51 were produced to the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday morning.

The registrar of subordinate court Nuur Hafiza Yatim ordered the five suspects to be remanded for three days to assist police probe into the case.

They will be produced again in court on April 22.
