Three caught for drugs in two sites

KUCHING: The police here made three arrests in two separate cases for drug related offences on Wednesday.

Kuching district acting police chief Supt Merbin Lisa today said the first arrest was made along Jalan Suadi Haji Arshid 1, here around 11.00am.

“The District Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) team arrested a 28-year-old local man and results of inspection on the suspect had found drugs in his hands.

“Further examination around the scene also found methamphetamine type drugs in a black plastic bag tied in a knot weighing 58.93g with an estimated value of RM5,893,” he said.

He said the suspect’s urine test was found positive for methamphetamine.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Merbin said the second and third arrests were made at Jalan Wan Alwi, here near the Queen Court building at 10.45am.

He said two male suspects, aged 42 and 25 were sharing a ride in a Perodua Viva.

“The inspection done on the 42-year-old suspect who was the driver, yielded drugs in a small box in a bag held by him.

“Inspection found 14 transparent plastic packets containing methamphetamine and two red transparent plastic packages weighing 32.52g with an estimated value of RM3,252.”

Merbin said subsequent examination on the 25-year-old male suspect had also found drugs in his bag that he was holding.

He said the drugs found were methamphetamine weighing 6.42g with a value of RM642.00.

“The results of the initial urine drug tests on the two suspects were also found to be positive for methamphetamine,” he added.

He noted that the 42-year-old suspect is being investigated under Section 39A(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 while the 25-year-old is being investigated under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the same act.
