KUCHING: Three non-governmental organisations working on animal welfare here, Sarawak SPCA, Save Our Strays Kuching (SOS) and Kuching Stray Cats Club are co-organising a celebration to honour stray animals in conjunction with World Stray Animal Day (WSAD) .

WSAD is celebrated across the world on 4 April annually to give special attention to stray animals.

To be held at the Old Courthouse here on 8 April between 11.00am and 4.00pm, the celebration is for the public to learn about the plight of stray animals and how the public  can assist the three NGOs to help the stray animals.

Miao & WafuPafu, the cat comic artists will be on hand to entertain the crowd.

Those  feeding the stray animals in their respective areas, can register themselves as a community feeder to receive advice and support from the SSPCA for their efforts.

The Sarawak SPCA is calling on the public to sign two petitions to be sent to the Sarawak State Government: (1) To ban the sale and consumption of dog and cat meat in Sarawak, and (2) To adopt the Capture, Neuter, Vaccinate and Return (CNVR) approach to reduce the stray animal populations in the state.
