KUCHING: All flights between Labuan and Miri will be reduced during the movement control order (MCO) period until April 14.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) deputy chairman Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the flights would be reduced to only three times per week.

Last Sunday, the committee also announced that all flights to and from Kuala Lumpur-Sibu would be cancelled.

When asked why the cancellation, Abdul Karim said the committee was still in the midst of identifying the suitable places to be as quarantine centres.

To a question on some foreigners stranded in Sarawak due to the MCO, he said they were allowed to stay here but must return to their respective countries once their permits or visas expire.

“I believed they did not expect this to happen and they want to go back, but due to the MCO, they are unable to do so.

“However, food assistance has been delivered to them,” he said.
