SIBU: Three individuals, including a woman, were killed while another was seriously injured when their car crashed into a tree at Jalan Deshon today morning.

Sibu Fire and Rescue Department Zone 4 chief Andy Alie said that a team from Sungai Merah fire station were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 11.34 am.

“Upon arrival, we confirmed that the accident involved a four-wheeled drive (4WD) vehicle crashing into a tree and four individuals were trapped inside,” he said in a statement today.

Andy said that the team managed to extricate all of the victims from the vehicle.

“The paramedics provided initial treatment to a 23-year-old woman, who was semi-conscious before she was transported by ambulance to Sibu Hospital,” he said.

He said that another three victims were pronounced dead by the paramedic at the scene.

“The victims comprising two men, aged 32 and 27 respectively, and a woman (no further information obtained), were handed over to the police for further action,” he said.

The team concluded the operation at 1.10 pm before returning to their station.
