Three longhouses in Ulu Teru hit by flood

MIRI: Several low-lying areas in Ulu Teru, Baram are inundated following heavy rain.

A report by Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) said, the affected areas are three longhouses – Rumah Kalong, Rumah Abok Kampung Mulong and Rumah Takang Kampung Empelam, a primary school (SK Pengarah Entari) and a health clinic (Klinik Desa Ulu Teru).

As at 8.30 am yesterday, the water level has risen to three feet high. However, no evacuation was carried out as the situation remained under control.

Water level from the Baram river has started to rise since July 1 and overflow into low-lying areas, following heavy rain.
