Three made homeless in early morning fire

BINTANGOR: A wee hour fire had caused a family of three to be homeless after destroying a single-storey house along Jalan Sungai Meliu Mador today (Dec 1).

Bomba photos show firemen carrying out extinguishing works at the scene.

Fortunately, the 43-year-old father and his children aged 20 and 18, managed to get out to safety and they did not sustain any injuries in the 1.20am incident.

Bintangor fire station chief Nicholas Belulin said his men were deployed to the scene, some 19km from the station, after receiving an emergency call.

On arrival, they found that the house was beyond saving and the extinguishing deed was performed using water sourced from the fire engine and a river nearby.

The flames were brought under control around 1.55am and it was completely extinguished around 3.10am.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team wrapped up the operation and headed back to their station.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
