Padawan police arrested a 21-year-old man in ‘Ops Samseng Jalanan’ after traffic policemen spotted him pulling a ‘superman’ stunt.

SIBU: Three youths risking their lives by performing dangerous ‘superman’ and ‘wheelie’ stunts in Padawan and Sibu districts on Saturday night (Nov 13), were arrested by police in an operation codenamed ‘Ops Samseng Jalanan’.

In Sibu district, two teenagers, aged 18, were arrested in the operation carried out by the district’s traffic police at two locations from 9pm to 2.30am.

Acting district police chief Supt Collin Babat said the first teenager was arrested along Jalan Bujang Suntong for performing a ‘wheelie’ stunt while the other teen, performing a ‘superman’ stunt, was arrested along Jalan Tun Zaidi Edruce.

“Aside from that, the police have inspected 13 vehicles and issued 42 traffic summonses for various offences such as driving license, modified exhaust system, non-functional brake, modified vehicle structure, fancy licence plate, expired road tax and others.

“The police also confiscated eight motorcycles for documentation under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.

Meanwhile in Padawan, a 21-year-old man was arrested by the district’s traffic police after they spotted him performing a dangerous ‘superman’ stunt along Jalan Kuching-Serian.

The operation, which started from 11pm to 3.30am, was also carried out at Jalan Stephen Yong where three individuals were inspected and six traffic summonses were issued.

Both cases are being investigated under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The two teenage riders and their motorcycles, were arrested for putting their lives on the line by performing dangerous stunts on the road in Sibu last Saturday.
