KUCHING: The State Health Department declared three new clusters in the districts of Sibu and Kuching.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) on Saturday (Sept 4) stated that these clusters comprise two workplace clusters and one community cluster.

“The Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman Cluster in Sibu is a workplace cluster which involved workers and tenants of a shopping centre located at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman.

“The cluster involved 630 people and out of these, 53 tested positive including the index case,” said the committee.

Some 35 people from the cluster tested negative and another 542 are still waiting for their tests results.

The Pasaraya Batu Kawa Cluster in Kuching also involved workers and tenants of a shopping centre at Jalan Batu Kawa, Taman Desa Wira.

“All 18 people including the index case involved with the cluster tested positive for Covid-19,” SDMC said.

Meanwhile, a community cluster in Kuching, the Kampung Sikog Cluster, involved villagers from a village at Jalan Mambong-Sikog-Sarig-Padawan.

The committee added that all 77 people from the cluster, including the index case, tested positive for Covid-19.

“All positive cases have been admitted to respective hospitals, Covid-19 quarantine and low-risk centres (PKRCs) and Covid-19 assessment centre (CAC).

“All of them will be put into isolation as well as getting further treatment at these centres.”
