Three new clusters identified

KUCHING: The Health Department has identified three new Covid-19 clusters in Sarawak.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embah said these are the Abak Bon Cluster in Subis district, Jalan Badarudin Cluster in Kuching district and Nanga Kelangas Cluster in Julau district.

“There are 49 active Covid-19 clusters in the state as of Sunday (Apr 11). Of the total, 10 clusters recorded new cases while there were no reports of new cases in the other 39 clusters,” he said.

The clusters that recorded additional cases were Bulatan Aman Cluster in Sibu (16), Jalan Baji Cluster in Sarikei (eight), Kampung Binyu Cluster in Kuching (13), Jalan Maju Cluster in Sibu (one), Jalan Bangunan Kerajaan Cluster in Beluru (two), Disso Cluster in Saratok (four), Jalan Bambangan Cluster in Mukah (16), Abak Bon Cluster in Subis (four), Jalan Badarudin Cluster in Kuching (two) and Nanga Kelangas Cluster in Julau (35).

Uggah also revealed that the State Health Department has declared the end of Kampung Sungai Maong Cluster in Kuching after no new cases were detected in the past 28 days.

Meanwhile, he stated that the district of Subis has changed from orange to red status.

“The district of Subis has changed from orange to red status after 42 local infection cases were recorded in the last two weeks. This increased the number of red zone districts in the state to 15.

“There are four districts which are orange zone and 16 yellow zone districts. Only five districts remain green zone,” he said.

The green districts are Telang Usan, Lundu, Pusa, Simunjan and Kabong.
