Three raids net three for drugs

BINTULU: Narcotic police here, in recent separates raids, arrested three men including a foreigner on suspicion of engaging in substance abuse.

Bintulu OCPD Supt Batholomew Umpit in a statement, said the arrests took place at Jalan Sungai Ngiyu on Friday (June 3) and at Jalan Tun Hussein Onn yesterday (June 4).

“The first arrest involving a 26-year-old foreigner, took place on Friday where he was found in possession of 0.8g of drugs believed to be syabu.

“As a result, the suspect who was also tested positive for drugs, will be investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said.

Yesterday (4 June) two arrests were made separately involving two local suspects aged 37 and 38, he told.

Batholomew said both suspects were tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine and they will be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

He added that these arrests were the testaments of efforts by his men in overcoming the issue of substance abuse, aside from preventing crime in Bintulu.

The local communities are urged to continue channelling information related to drug activities to Bintulu police at 086-318304.
